ACUPUNCTURE

Joby originally trained as a fashion designer and worked in the theatre making theatrical costumes. She was working in an actor’s agency when she had a personal epiphany whilst sitting in her acupuncturist’s chair as she realised that this would be her vocation.

Joby began her Acupuncture training in 1989 at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York and has been in practice ever since. She has held a practice at Woodlands since 1993 shortly after it first opened. Her training at York was in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture. TCM is the term used for the diagnosis of the disease that is presented by the patient. In 2004 she completed a post-graduate course in Five Element Acupuncture at the School of Five Element Acupuncture in London.
She has kept a close connection with the Northern College: initially in post graduate training, moving to a position of regional tutor in 1994 a post she held for 5 years. In 1998 she was appointed as a tutor to the third year students teaching Chinese Medicine, progressing to the role of Module Leader for Chinese Medicine 3 in 2002.
Joby has an interest in working with people who are at a transitional place in their lives. Symptoms often present themselves at times of change or when we are struggling with the need to change pace or direction. Acupuncture recognises the various stages in life and treatment can enable the internal movement of Qi to help us make progress towards our new life.
