Phil had a career in industry until the age of thirty. However, the experience of learning meditation as a teenager and several years of martial arts training had set the seeds of a developing inquiry into the mysteries and intricacies of what it takes to become a really human being. In 1989 a bang on the head brought Phil to the attention of the local McTimoney Chiropractor, after which things were never quite the same.
Phil graduated from the McTimoney College in Oxford in 1992 and started practice in Duffield, Ashbourne and Lichfield. When the Woodlands Centre opened in 1993, Phil focused his practice into the Derby area.
Later on in 1993, the experience of a Zero Balancing session revealed the next part of the path. Phil pursued Zero Balancing training in England and America, becoming a Certified Zero Balancer in 1997, and subsequently a Certified Teacher of Zero Balancing.
Phil's practice is now entitled 'Core Alignment Therapy' which brings together all of the strands of his experience in movement, bodywork and meditation.
Phil still remains curious, inquisitive and enthused, about martial arts, wellness and illness, body movement, the role of emotions and language in health and the mind-body connection, as well as music, meditation, ice skating, the quest for realness, piano playing, and cars that do 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds. He hopes that this curiosity will endure for many years to come.
