DEEP TISSUE AND REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Mick has always had involvement with health care. He started his working life as a psychiatric Nurse and followed this with a period in a pharmaceutical company working in medicinal manufacture.
Mick became increasingly disenchanted with both the philosophy and practice of modern medicine. Exploration and study of alternative approaches to health care resulted in Mick becoming Production Manager for Weleda UK a company that manufactured Homoeopathic, Anthroposophical and herbal medicine and toiletries. Where he remained for 15 years as well as overseeing the harvesting, processing and final packaging of these natural products he also spent much of his time lecturing to the general public about the theories and processes on which Weleda was based.
Mick’s wife was a masseur and aromatherapist in Nottingham and he was involved through his work with both essential oils and massage preparations. Wanting more knowledge about the therapies that his products were used in he took a massage qualification himself. Mick found such satisfaction from being able to affect change so profoundly without needing to be too invasive that since qualifying, massage has been his career – opening clinics in Nottingham, Ilkeston and Derby. He also teaches massage at Beginner, Professional and Post Graduate levels.
Most recently Mick has consolidated all of his work at Woodlands where he has both his clinic and from where he runs the Derby School of Holistic Massage.
