SWEDISH MASSAGE

It is designed to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and relieve muscle tension using a combination of techniques such as long gliding strokes, kneading, rolling and squeezing muscles to promote blood flow. Deep, circular movements that target specific muscle knots. Rhythmic tapping or percussion movements and gentle shaking of the muscles to loosen tight areas.

Benefits of Swedish Massage:

Relieves muscle tension and stiffness. Improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. Reduces stress and promotes relaxation. Enhances flexibility and range of motion. Helps with pain relief and recovery from minor injuries.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

A deep tissue massage is a more intense and targeted form of massage therapy designed to address chronic muscle tension, pain, and stiffness. Unlike Swedish massage, which focuses on relaxation, deep tissue massage applies firmer pressure and slower strokes to reach the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue (fascia). Using a combination of techniques such as slow, deep strokes applied with hands, forearms, elbows, and even knuckles to penetrate deeper muscle layers. Stripping as deep pressure along the length of muscle fibres. Friction as focused, circular pressure to break up adhesions( knots) and scar tissue. Trigger point therapy as applying sustained pressure to specific points to relieve pain and tension.

Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage:

As each person’s health is considered individually this will vary considerably. This will depend upon; the severity and chronic nature of your problem and your body’s own ability to heal itself. This may therefore vary from treatment once or twice per week for up to 20 treatments or 3-4 sessions for something as simple as a recent sprain. Treatment is some times carried out over a short period with lots of treatments in a short time or longer period with less visits in between.

Relieves chronic pain (back, neck and shoulder pain). Helps with injury recovery ( sports injuries, strains and postural issues). Improves mobility and flexibility. Reduces muscle knots and adhesions. Increases blood flow and oxygen to deep tissues.

How It Differs from Swedish Massage:

Pressure: Swedish is light to medium, deep tissue is firm to very firm.
Purpose: Swedish is relaxation, deep tissue is for therapeutic relief.
Depth: Swedish works on surface muscles, deep tissue targets deeper layers.
Best for: Swedish is great for stress relief, deep tissue is ideal for chronic pain or muscle tightness
