My Journey to Holistic Healing

​

A dear friend once asked me, “What made you interested in holistic therapies?” The answer lies in a journey that began in my early teens. As a neurodivergent student navigating the challenges of school, I found my true solace in nature, art, music, and literature.

​

It was during this formative time that my father opened my eyes to the connection between mind, body, and spirit. He gifted me Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s seminal work, On Death and Dying. That book did more than educate me; it planted the first seeds of what would later become my Soul Midwifery practice. This early fascination with the human experience led me to document the lives of residents in a Hansen's disease sanatorium, an experience that deepened my empathy and understanding of resilience.

 

My background as a photographer, fine artist and educator eventually ignited a lifelong passion for healing therapies. In the 1990s, I began exploring Shiatsu at the Woodlands Natural Health Centre, which opened the door to a world of modalities. Today, I am honoured to integrate a diverse range of practices into my work, including Reiki (Master level), EFT (Advanced Practitioner), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Soul Midwifery, and Naturopathy (student). I hold full accreditation with the IPHM.

 

My practice is deeply informed by my own experiences and profound life changes. In 2022, I became an ostomate following a life-changing medical emergency. This experience inspired me to found Derby Stoma Buddies, a support group for ostomates and their families in Derbyshire. Additionally, my experience as a sole carer for a loved one receiving palliative care has given me a unique perspective on palliative care and the end-of-life journey.

I believe that true healing and wellbeing embrace emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions, complementing and working in partnership with conventional medical treatments and professionals. I specialise in supporting individuals navigating significant life transitions, offering tailored holistic therapies for ostomates, those receiving palliative care, and people approaching the end of life, alongside their loved ones and caregivers.
