Humanistic Psychotherapy & Counselling
Practitioners: Isaac Pizer
This approach is characterised by deep trust in our potential for self-realisation and fulfilment as human beings, with a supportive, compassionate therapeutic relationship serving as a vehicle for this path.
In the course of humanistic psychotherapy and counselling, there is the working through, at the pace and depth right for you, of experiences, traumas and conditionings that have kept you from being close to your deepest self, enjoying your life and relationships, and following the way of your heart and soul.
Humanistic psychotherapy and counselling is a tradition that emerged from the work of practitioners and writers from the mid-twentieth century onwards, such as Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, Erich Fromm, Eric Berne, and Fritz & Laura Perls, and comprises several distinct modalities. A lasting influence is the work of the philosopher Martin Buber and his concept of ‘I-Thou’ for holding the therapeutic relationship, as one grounded in profound respect for you, your unique qualities, and your journey.
